Maths Open Morning

On Wednesday 12th November, Oakthorpe opened its doors to show off the children's amazing learning attitudes and how children use rich tasks in Maths to improve their learning.

The children had a fantastic time solving our alien problem across the school and they really showed off their understanding of multiplication and division. They used objects, drew pictures, wrote number sentences and explanations of how they solved the problem.

The 4Rs were also used a lot throughout the morning. Everyone was showing great resilience, reciprocity, resourcefulness and reflection to help them get lots of different answers to their problem.

The parents that came to visit left some excellent feedback-

'I find open mornings really helpful in order to try different ideas to learn at home. Really useful.'

'Fabulously friendly staff and pupils'

'Really enjoyed watching the children do their learning'

'The children were enjoying getting the answers even when it was tricky'
