Underground House GRAND OPENING
On Friday 23rd September the whole school were involved in the Grand Opening of our new outside learning space on the school field. It was a fantastic event to celebrate the learning that has taken place over the last year's involvement with Creative Partnerships.
As well as parents, governors and children we were also joined by our local MP Andrew Brigden, chief executive of the National Forest Sophie Churchill, and chief executive of the Mighty Creatives Richard Clarke. This really made the chidlren realise how much of a change the children have made and how impressed everyone is with them. We were also featured on BBC Radio Leicester Breakfast Show and will have articles in the Leicester Mercury, Ashby Times and Burton Mail.
The event was also a fantastic opportunity to show our huge amount of thanks to our creative partners, Kate Unwin and Peter Wood. They have worked tirelessly and creatively to inspire the whole school with their knowledge, skills and understanding. They have only just started the school off on many new learning opportunities. We look forward to welcoming them back to school soon.
The ribbon was cut my members of our Creative Council who played a major part in the leadership of the project over the last year. We also had chance for people to think of new names for the outside space and parents donated and planted shrubs around the structure.
A fantastic example of a whole school working together to create something AMAZING!
