Dream …Believe …Achieve

Enabling children to flourish and succeed

Reading Support

Read lots, Learn lots

This Oakthorpe Learning Habit is incredibly important for all children across the school. All children read at school every day and to be confident, fluent readers, they need to read at home every day too. Reading opens up the world to children allowing them to make their own independent discoveries and helping them to make sense of the world around them.

The documents attached below are to support children and parents to develop activities that can be completed during this daily reading. As children become independent readers without always needing the support of an adult, it is important that the adult takes on the role of questioning the child about what they have read to help them develop a deeper understanding and infer a deeper meaning to what the author has written.

If you have any questions about the use of these activities to be used in reading journals, please get in touch with your child's class teacher.
