“Working together to develop a community where everyone is valued and children become confident and successful learners.”

Character Awards Ceremony

On Monday 16th March, Mrs Moulds, Mr Ellis and Keeley were invited to Lancaster House in London to receive our character award from the Secretary of State for Education. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the unbelievable achievement of the whole school community and share the story of Oakthorpe with so many influential people in education. They were very interested to hear about our Ideal Selves and how resilience, reciprocity, resourcefulness and reflection are led forward by the Learning Council.

The Secretary of State made a beeline for Keeley after the ceremony and Keeley explained brilliantly about her Ideal Self and what it meant to her. She explained that the best thing about Oakthorpe is that everyone is so positive.

On our visit to London, we also managed to take a trip to Buckingham Palace and also saw Big Ben and the Houses and Parliament. We'll have to make Westminster our next London trip after the Lion King in June!

We were thinking of you all when we collected the award and made sure that we spoke about the pride that the whole community felt for this fantastic accolade! Well done everyone!
