Oakthorpe Ofsted Report
I am delighted to share with you the report from our recent Ofsted inspection. We are very proud to have continued to retain our Good judgement. The inspectors recognised the school’s caring and nurturing ethos as well as the work staff and children do to achieve their very best.
There are so many aspects of the report that show off what is so good about our school. These are a few of my personal highlights:
- ‘This is a caring school. Staff know pupils well. Pupils say that, ‘Staff care more about us than anything else.’’
This just sums up our school entirely and shows why we are a Gold Award winning school!
- ‘Leaders want all pupils to achieve highly. They have created a sense of teamwork across the school.’
This includes teamwork with pupils and parents to ensure they share the ambition for children to achieve their very best.
- ‘Pupils behave well and respect each other. Pupils have the opportunities to develop as happy, healthy and thoughtful individuals.’
I see this every day and shows the impact of the work we do to support children’s mental health and wellbeing.
This Ofsted inspection framework was only introduced from September 2019 and has a particular focus on the quality of the school’s curriculum. The inspectors could see the high expectations of our curriculum and the work we have done across the school and Oval Learning Trust to further develop all areas of the curriculum. I look forward to continuing to develop this with staff and children over the next year.
